With attendees from all over the world, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) uses a variety of strategies to create new and valuable meeting experiences.
At AAO 2018, more than 23,000 ophthalmologists, health professionals and industry personnel from across the globe met in Chicago to learn, network and grow in their careers.
Katherine Dutrow, CMP, the Director of Meeting Services at AAO, has had a lot on her plate with many of the global changes that affect meeting professionals, like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Katherine discussed with us how her team handled attendee data after GDPR took affect and how they approach marketing and registration in this new era of data protection.
She also talked about how and why they invested in virtual meeting options for members and what steps they’re taking to ensure their event’s success well into the future.
